Jersey for Fintech is a collaboration between the Government of Jersey, Jersey Finance, Digital Jersey and Locate Jersey to promote Jersey as a location for fintech firms to establish, grow and flourish. Jersey was one of the first jurisdictions in the world to make full-fibre broadband available to 100% of users, ranking 2nd in the 2020 Worldwide Broadband Speed League, with a 1GB full-fibre-to-the-home network, three tier-1 telecoms providers offering 4G (5G planned by 2021), three IoT networks and four world-class data centres. Fintech businesses in Jersey are overseen by the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) and the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner, under a principles-based regulatory approach designed to be flexible enough to adapt to innovative products. The JFSC is a member of the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN), and Jersey applies principles equivalent to the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), giving firms using the island as an innovation or technology hub the certainty of familiar data-protection legislation.
