The Federazione Banche Assicurazioni e Finanza (FeBAF) was founded in 2008 on the initiative of the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and the National Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA). It brings together twelve associations from the banking, insurance and wider financial industry, including ABI, ANIA, Aifi, Assogestioni and Assoreti, and works on issues of common interest to the sector at national, European and global level. Through its Brussels office, FeBAF also provides the operational base its member associations use for representation before the EU institutions. FeBAF became a member of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) in October 2021 and in November 2021 was among the founding signatories of the Roundtable of EU Financial Centers, WAIFC's European regional chapter. It also organises the Rome Investment Forum. Rome is the seat of the Banca d'Italia, a member of the Eurosystem and Italy's national authority within the Single Supervisory Mechanism, and the main headquarters of the securities regulator CONSOB, which also has an office in Milan. In the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 40, September 2026), Rome ranked 47th with a rating of 712, unchanged in rank from GFCI 39.
