Febelfin, the Federation of the Belgian Financial Sector, is a non-profit association (ASBL) founded on 28 March 2003. With more than 230 members, it represents the majority of the financial sector in Belgium. Febelfin defends its members' interests before policymakers and supervisors at national and European level and provides information and training. Its members include banks and other financial institutions as well as professional associations and financial market infrastructure providers such as Euroclear, Euronext, SWIFT and Worldline. Brussels is the seat of the National Bank of Belgium, part of the Eurosystem since the introduction of the euro in 1999, and of the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA); since 1 April 2011 the two have shared financial supervision under a "Twin Peaks" model. As the host city of EU institutions, Brussels is also home to the Single Resolution Board, the Banking Union's resolution authority, established in January 2015. Febelfin was among the founding signatories of the Roundtable of EU Financial Centers, a regional chapter of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC), in November 2021.
